Congressman Ron Paul Co-Sponsoring Farmageddon Film for Congress

Republican  Presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul, along with Democratic congressional  co-sponsors Chellie Pingree and Ed Perlmutter, is sponsoring the shocking film Farmageddon in a special screening for Congress December 13 on Capital Hill.

The food documentary, Farmageddon: The Unseen War on American Family Farms, produced by independent filmmaker Kristin Canty, vividly portrays the stories of numerous independent and family farmers who have found themselves on the wrong side of government food policy and have been subjected to everything from SWAT team raids to federal charges, fines, confiscation of property and destruction of food. This is the harsh reality today of local, organic and small farmers as well as co-op operators confronting the monopolistic Goliath of the government/agribusiness alliance.

The film’s showings in New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston has spawned 150 community screenings around the country.

Pingree serves on the Agriculture Committee and recently introduced H.R. 3286, the “Local Farms, Food and Jobs Act,” which reforms agriculture policy to give consumers greater access to local foods, and gives farmers more ability to compete against agribusiness. The bill is co-sponsored by 60 other House members and has also been introduced in the Senate
