Cooking with aluminum foil contributes to toxic overload, study concludes

Don’t cook with aluminum foil—is the advice of a recent study published in the International Journal of Electrochemical Science.

Some of that foil wrapping will leach into your food.

“Aluminum foil used in cooking provides an easy channel for metal to enter the human body,” concludes the study.

The body is wired to excrete small amounts of aluminum efficiently, in tune with the fact that aluminum is the most abundant metal in the earth’s crust.

Thus it is found naturally in foods and spices.

But according to the World Health Organization (WHO,) humans today are ingesting far more aluminum than the amount considered ‘safe’ by WHO.

Today aluminum is used in many cooking utensils, pots, pans and even cosmetics such as antiperspirants. Aluminum is also used as a coagulant in the process of purifying drinking water.

Studies have shown that high aluminum intake can cause serious harm to people with renal impairment and certain bone diseases. It has also been shown to reduce growth rate of brain cells in humans.

So don’t cook with aluminum foil! It is a disposable product with no protective layer and is particularly harmful when heated wrapped around highly acidic foods.

Pots and pans are much less problematic than foil as they are de-oxidized and coated during the manufacturing process.

But there is no need to use aluminum pots. There are many less questionable choices for baked dishes—glass, porcelain, cast iron and others.

Researchers are particularly concerned about connections between aluminum and one of today’s most dreaded diseases—Alzheimer’s disease.

According to Gehada Bassioni, one of the leading  researchers for the electrochemical report, Alzheimers may be a modern illness born out of industrialization.

A few dozen years ago aluminum foil was a modern wonder, eagerly snatched up and utilized by our parents and grandparents.

No one ever warned them as they do us—don’t cook with aluminum foil.

Controversy swirls between scientists, the medical profession and manufacturers about the legitimacy of the aluminum/Alzheimers connection.

But SOMETHING is causing the steadily increasing rates of Alzheimers and other dementias showing up at younger and younger ages.
